Organizers of Vision 2025, the ongoing, Johnstown-area strategic visioning being facilitated by the Remaking Cities Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, have announced a listening session open to the public on September 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the ballroom at the Holiday Inn, downtown Johnstown, to seek further community input into the effort.
Attendance is free and the public is encouraged to attend to offer their views on the ongoing development of the community vision. Stefani Danes, project lead from the Remaking Cities Institute, will present the current status of the visioning exercise and conduct input sessions with table groups, present a questionnaire for further input and discuss ways to participate.
The effort is expected to produce a completed visioning document in mid-October that will place a strategic focus around three core areas: a vibrant local economy, life-sustaining landscapes and a strong sense of community, all guided by an inclusive good governance model.
To date, the project team has gathered information and input from a number of sources, including a community priority survey conducted through the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat last September, community planning documents, interviews with over two dozen community leaders and facilitated listening sessions with over 100 additional community members.
RSVPs are not required but would be helpful for planning purposes. Please respond to Marisa Nelson at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies at email@example.com. If you have any questions about this upcoming session, please contact committee member Mike Kane.
