LIFT HONORS VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT AWARD RECIPIENTS: THE LADY DIRTBAGS

April 7, 2017

LIFT TO HONOR THE 15th VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT AWARD RECIPIENTS: THE LADY DIRTBAGS ORGANIZATION

JOHNSTOWN, PA – On Tuesday, April 4th at 4:00 PM, LIFT Johnstown honored its 15th Volunteer
Spotlight Award recipients - the students, the young ladies that make up The Lady Dirtbags softball team during the LIFT Johnstown Project Party at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center.

LIFT Johnstown is happy to promote recognition of this special student organization who exemplifies all that volunteering embodies. The Lady Dirtbags, led by their coaches and parents, was selected by a committee that reviews and votes on nominations submitted to LIFT by members of the community.

Their nomination reads as follows:
“The Lady Dirtbags Softball Team have girls representing eighteen area school districts including – Greater Johnstown, Westmont Hilltop, Richland, Ferndale, Central Cambria, Penn Cambria,
Conemaugh Valley, Forest Hills and Homer Center and are formed under the Community
Foundation for the Alleghenies. Because of this partnership with the Community Foundation, the girls are required to do community service projects to be a part of the team. More than just simple athletic competition, the team is about developing youth leadership skills through community service and volunteerism. For the past two years, the team, coaches and parents have partnered with the Johnstown Backpack Project to help fulfill the needs of local kids who don’t have enough to eat over the weekend when they can’t eat breakfast and lunch at school. Every month for the past two years, they have packed over 350 weekend food bags, helped emptying cartons and stocking food.”

Brad Clemenson, LIFT Johnstown Coordinator, will be on hand on Tuesday, April 4th at 4:00 P.M. at the Frank J. Pasquerilla Conference Center, to present the LIFT award to these students for their years of outstanding service to the special needs of the residents of this area.

LIFT Johnstown believes that the hard work and dedication of our community volunteers are what make our community a great place to live and work. They are helping to improve our region and the lives of our citizens every day. The LIFT Volunteer Spotlight Award is a way to recognize those going the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of people and on projects that are redefining the Johnstown area as a vibrant small city and region.
