JOHNSTOWN, PA – On Wednesday, December 27th at 9:30 A.M. in the lobby of the YMCA , LIFT Johnstown honored its 17th Volunteer Spotlight Award recipient in a surprise presentation. Elisabeth Felix has served in numerous capacities and for various organizations as a fundraiser and a volunteer in Johnstown. She was nominated by the President, Board of Directors and Camp Director of The Cambria County Camp Cadet program for her leadership skills, work ethic, mentoring and fundraising efforts on behalf of the Camp. LIFT also received an impressive nomination for Felix from Rev. Ray Streets for her efforts at her church and her community service.

LIFT Johnstown is happy to promote recognition of those special citizens who exemplify all that volunteering embodies. Felix was selected by a committee that reviews and votes on nominations submitted to LIFT by members of the community.

Just some of Elisabeth’s other volunteer accomplishments are listed below:

  • Received the Gold Level presidential Volunteer Service Award – the highest achievement for 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-2018.

  • Founder of ‘The Greater Johnstown Community YMCA Junior Leadership Committee.’

  • Volunteers at the Beginnings Non-profit Junior Leadership Board.

  • Volunteers at the American Legion Auxiliary.

  • Founded with her brother a lawn care business called Fix it Felix and donates 20% of the lawn and yard services to needy community neighbors.

  • Founder of H.E.L.P. (Heroin Epidemic Lifeline Program) which partners with the PENIEL Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center. To date has campaigned, raised and distributed $18,548.50 worth of educational materials to the community.

  • 2018-2019 Volunteer Camp Captain of Summers Best Two Weeks voted on by over 1,200 student athletes, leadership, coaches and counselors.

  • Volunteered and participated in a sixteen day service trip helping indigenous children in a primary school located at the Nasivikoso village in Fiji.

Brad Clemenson, LIFT Johnstown Coordinator presented the LIFT award to Felix for her outstanding service to our community. In addition, three State Police Officers from the Camp Cadet Program were on hand to say a few words in recognition of Felix as was Rev. Streets, Pastor of The Journey Church.

LIFT Johnstown believes that the hard work and dedication of our community volunteers are what make our region a great place to live and work. Student volunteerism is especially encouraged, as participation in community activities at an early age establishes a level of engagement that will undoubtedly continue on into adulthood. Our children are our future. Volunteerism is helping to improve our region and the lives of our citizens every day. The LIFT Volunteer Spotlight Award is a way to recognize those going the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of people and on projects that are redefining the Johnstown area as a vibrant small city and region.
