Lift Honors Volunteer at the ArtWorks

On Tuesday, December 4th at 11:00 AM, Lift Johnstown honored its 21st Volunteer Spotlight Award recipient in a surprise presentation at the ArtWorks building, on Third Avenue, Johnstown, PA. Barb Penrod, a long-time volunteer at The Arts on Third Avenue, was nominated for the LIFT award because of her volunteer contributions at the facilities. Penrod volunteers as a front desk receptionist and performs other duties for the organization. LIFT Johnstown is happy to promote recognition of those special citizens who exemplify all that volunteering embodies. Penrod was selected by a committee that reviews and votes on nominations submitted to LIFT by members of the community.

The nomination of Penrod reads as follows: “Barb Penrod volunteers as a front desk receptionist and is our most loyal volunteer overseeing both the Bottle Works and the Art Works Galleries. She has excellent public relations skills, greeting gallery visitors in addition to performing other duties such as mailing, typing, data entry, bookkeeping and organization efforts that keep the front desk operational. Barb always makes a concerted effort to be the most polite and informed volunteer at The Arts on Third Avenue. She has been working with us for over 5 years.”

LIFT Johnstown encourages volunteerism on many levels by all citizens, from students to seniors. The LIFT Volunteer Spotlight Award is a way to recognize those going the extra mile to make a difference in the lives of people and on projects that are redefining the Johnstown area as a vibrant small city and region.

LIFT honors volunteers on a quarterly basis. New nominations may be submitted starting next week.
